Add Program to Start Menu (Windows)

Add programs you frequently use to the Windows Start menu. So you can always start them quickly.


The Start menu contains some programs by default. As soon as you click on an icon, the corresponding program will start. You simply add additional applications to the Start menu.

  • In Windows 10, click the Start button. In Windows 11, click the Start button > All apps.
  • An overview of the programs on the computer opens. Some programs are bundled in folders. Right-click the program you want to add to the Start menu.
  • Click on the shortcut menu Pin to Start.

Now the program is in the Start menu. You can also add applications that are not in the overview of all apps to the Start menu. For example, the Control Panel.

  • Click on the magnifying glass in the Taskbar. The search function opens.
  • Type your search term.
  • Search suggestions already appear as you type. Under “Best match”, right click on the found application.
  • Click on the shortcut menu Pin to Start.

The application is pinned to the Start menu.
