Open the Google Doc you want to add the signature to and click Insert / Drawing / + New. This will take you to a canvas where you can draw an image. This can be lines, shapes, arrows, a text, et cetera.
In the background of the canvas you see a block pattern. This pattern indicates that the background is transparent. Handy, because this means you can even partially drag your signature over the text. Click in the toolbar on the arrow next to the icon with the line and choose the command scribble.
Shaping
In mode scribble you can draw a free form on the canvas, such as your signature. This works well with a drawing tablet or a touchscreen, but you can also make your signature with the mouse.
When you draw the first line, the tools in the toolbar change. In the new set, you can set the thickness, color, and type (dashed line, dashed line, etc.) of the line. If you find the design a bit too angular, use Ctrl+Z to undo the design and start over.
When the signature consists of two or more lines, you must select the group as a whole to modify its attributes. You do this by dragging a selection box over the signature. When you’re ready, click on the top right Save and Close.

Positioning
Saving your signature will make it appear in the document. In most cases, the signature image will be much too large. Clicking on it will bring up a blue border with small boxes around it. Those boxes are the handles. Loves shift pressed, click a handle in a corner and scale the image. Through shift the aspect ratio of the drawing will be preserved.
At the bottom of the selected signature you will find the options for the text wrapping. Choose the option there For the text. This allows you to partially place the signature over the text, just like you can with a pen.
