After two years, Vinfast will have another CEO

Vinfast will have a different CEO for the second time in a relatively short time. Le Thi Thu Thuy will take on another position within the board of the Vietnamese car manufacturer and will be succeeded by the chairman of parent company Vingroup.

The Vietnamese Vinfast is in the middle of a not entirely smooth expansion into the American and European markets, among others. Apparently this would be better done under the leadership of someone else than Le Thi Thu Thuy, who was appointed two years ago, it seems. She will resign her work as CEO and continue as chairman of the board of directors and will therefore remain of great influence. Thuy will be succeeded as CEO by none other than Pham Nhat Vuong, who heads parent company Vingroup and was at the founding of it. A very important figure.

The fact that Pham, as founder and director of the Vingroup, is now taking the reins at Vinfast may mean that the parent company thought it was time to intervene. After all, Thuy’s task, among other things, was to market Vinfast in the US and that is not going entirely according to plan. The opening of a US factory has been delayed and the Vietnam-built cars came under fire after safety watchdog NHTSA deemed them unsafe. However, Vinfast now wants to continue and announced last week that five American dealers have been found who want to sell the cars.

Vinfast also has plans for the European and Dutch markets. Here we expect the VF7, VF8 and the VF9 pictured above, the first cars may be coming this way this year. By the way, we expect more news this week about Vinfast, which is present at the CES in Las Vegas and is reportedly showing the production version of the VF3 there.
