Agon by AOC, known for gaming monitors, announces a brand new display that will especially delight gamers with a penchant for first person shooters: the Agon Pro AG274QS. This display has a refresh rate of 300 Hertz.
The Agon Pro AG274QS has a 27-inch screen, a high resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels (also called QHD) and therefore a high refresh rate of 300 Hertz. What makes this display (still) special is that it is one of the first QHD displays with such a high refresh rate on the market.
This gaming monitor therefore has more than twice the usual refresh rate of monitors that have the same target group in mind. Normally, such screens have 144 Hertz as the main point of sale.
This should sound like music to the ears of gamers who often deal with first person shooters, where milliseconds matter. The faster the user can spot an opponent peeking around a corner, or the faster they can track the opponent’s erratic movements in time, the faster they can react and gain the upper hand in the competition.
Agon Pro AG274QS: low response speed
Thanks to the response times of 1 ms GtG (grey to grey) and 0.5 ms MPRT (moving picture response time), fast actions are displayed on the monitor smoothly and with virtually no ghosting. And since the monitor has Adaptive-Sync technology and AMD FreeSync Premium support, tearing and stuttering are kept to a minimum by using a variable refresh rate.
In addition, the AG274QS has a DisplayHDR 600 certification. The screen can present up to 600 nits of peak brightness to simultaneously display bright explosions or landscapes with clear sunlight and harsh shadows.
Furthermore, the edges around this screen, at least on three sides, are very thin. This makes the design ideal for using a set-up with multiple monitors, since the edges between the screens are not distracting. There’s also a logo projector, as well as customizable and syncable RGB (Light FX) effects with other AOC gear thanks to the G-Menu software. The Agon Pro AG274Q has a sturdy metal stand and therefore offers many options in terms of height, tilt and rotation directions.
With four USB 3.2 ports, the monitor can act as a dock to connect additional peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, USB headset and more. There are also two 5W speakers with DTS sound. There is also an integrated headset holder on the monitor, so that your desk stays tidy. The included puck-shaped QuickSwitch controller makes adjusting OSD settings a breeze, while it can also be controlled via the joystick or G-Menu software.

Agon Pro AG274QS is now available for a suggested retail price of 1199 euros.
