Winged SUV may come to Europe
The Chinese car brand Aion has the ambition to eventually market its electric products in Europe. That makes this electric SUV with gull-wing doors presented in its home country of China an interesting newcomer. This is the Aion Hyper HT.
‘Wait a second. I already know this SUV, right?’ – we hear you think. That is very possible. AutoWeek previously showed you this Aion Hyper HT, both extensively with a patent image and two photos of the actual car. Aion – a brand of the Chinese state-owned company GAC – has now presented the Hyper HT itself. That means: more images and more information!
After this Hyper SSR and this Hyper GT – one an electric supercar, the other an electric sedan – the Hyper HT is the third model of Aion’s ‘Hyper’ model line. The Aion Hyper HT measures 4.94 meters in length, making it about 20 centimeters longer than a Tesla Model Y and 10 centimeters shorter than a Model Just like the Tesla Model
Depending on the variant chosen, the Hyper HT can travel 600, 670 or even 770 kilometers on a full battery according to the Chinese measurement cycle. Aion only mentions an 80 kWh battery, but it is quite possible that the greatest range will be wrung from a larger package. For the time being, Airon has only presented the Hyper GT as rear-wheel drive. There will be a 245 hp version and a 340 hp powerful variant. The fastest flavor accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. The luggage compartment measures 670 to – with the rear seats flat – 1,802 liters. The Aion Hyper HT has a small one in its snout frunk with a capacity of 55 liters. What is striking is the option to slouch in the back with the legs pointing forward, as if you were sitting in the back of a top limo. Pleasant stay. The starting price of the Aion Hyper HT has been set at a modest €28,250.
GAC is expanding considerably with Aion. It is active in Thailand and Jordan, among others, and opened an R&D center in Milan last year. It will also soon set up a department that will market electric Aions in Europe. The design of the car has already been recorded in Europe – as patent drawings previously unearthed by AutoWeek prove.
If the Aion Hyper HT were offered in the Netherlands with a relatively friendly price tag, would you be up for it? Why or why not?
