Adjust AirPlay setting
The security problem at AirPlay is also called Airborne and ensures that the software is vulnerable to malware. This can be distributed via the wireless connection of the device, making it important to disable that anyone can connect with your iPhone, iPad or other device via AirPlay. Curious how you do that? Then switch off the following AirPlay setting:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General’;
- Tap ‘AirPlay and continuity’;
- Choose ‘use AirPlay’;
- Finally, select ‘Question’.
Have you adjusted this AirPlay setting? Then devices on the same WiFi network can no longer simply connect to your iPhone, iPad, Mac (book) or other device. Instead, your devices must first approve, so that you are sure that there are no unwanted devices connecting with your smartphone or tablet. On almost all Apple devices you will find this function in the same place, it is advisable to set AirPlay on ‘question’ everywhere.
This way AirPlay stays safe
Many smart devices have AirPlay, which makes many devices affected by the security breach. Therefore, make sure that you adjust the AirPlay setting where possible, especially if your devices regularly connect with public WiFi networks. These networks are often vulnerable to criminals, entirely due to the well -known AirPlay security problem. Therefore, check in advance whether you have put AirPlay on ‘Never’ or ‘Question’ in the settings of your device.
