AirPods Pro 3 will get these features (and here’s when)

Apple is working on a new version of the AirPods Pro! With the AirPods Pro 3 we not only see new features, but probably also a new design. In addition, the earphones have a new processor, which ensures greatly improved audio quality. Are you planning to buy new AirPods soon? 1. New design

According to the usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, the AirPods Pro 3 will have a new design next year. That is special, because since the introduction of the AirPods Pro in 2019, Apple has not made any changes to the design of the earphones. This means that next year we will see a new design for the AirPods Pro for the first time in six years.

It is not yet known what will change with the AirPods Pro 3. Apple may adjust the operating method of the earphones. In that case we see adjustments to the stems of the AirPods. In addition, it is quite possible that the case will become much more compact, as we already see with the AirPods 4. Gurman himself has not said anything about exactly what changes in the design we can expect.

2. H3 chip

Apple chose the H1 chip for the first generation of the AirPods Pro, and the H2 chip for the second generation. The logical next step is that the AirPods Pro 3 run on the H3 chip. While with some products you hardly notice a new processor, this is the case with the AirPods. For example, the difference between the H1 and H2 chips is very large, which is especially noticeable in the sound quality of the earphones.

With the H2 chip, the AirPods Pro 2 have a greater range, making deep and high tones more clearly audible. Apple is expected to further improve the audio quality of the AirPods Pro 3. Another advantage of the H3 chip is the improved noise reduction. The new processor blocks out disturbing noise even better and probably adds new noise control functions to the AirPods Pro 3.

3. Health functions

In addition to the new design and the H3 chip, Apple is also working on new health features for the AirPods Pro 3. Apple has already released a series of health features for the AirPods. You can do a hearing test with the earphones and use them as a hearing aid. The AirPods Pro 3 add even more functions, because it becomes possible to measure your body temperature with the earphones.

It is already possible to record your body temperature with your Apple Watch. From next year, this will also be possible with the AirPods Pro 3. Measuring your body temperature is probably more precise if you do this through your ears than if it is done through your wrist. As a result, the results from the AirPods are probably more reliable than those from the Apple Watch.

4. Camera and Apple Intelligence

Rumors also predict that the AirPods will be equipped with cameras. These cameras reportedly use Apple Intelligence to understand the world around you. This is especially useful for users who are visually impaired, because the earphones can provide clues about the environment. This fits within Apple’s health functions, which often focus on improving accessibility.

It is not yet clear whether the external cameras will already be introduced with the AirPods Pro 3, or will only be added with a later generation of the earphones. Apple has now released Visual Intelligence, with which the camera of the iPhone 16 recognizes objects, restaurants and people using Apple Intelligence. This feature would undoubtedly also come to the camera of the AirPods Pro.

Are you excited about the AirPods Pro 3? Then you’ll have to wait a while, because the earphones won’t appear until next year. Apple usually releases new AirPods in the fall. For example, the first and second generations of the AirPods Pro were released in September and October. We saw the same thing this year with the AirPods 4, which were announced in September.

So there is a good chance that the AirPods Pro 3 will fit in September or October 2025 appear in stores. Apple may announce the earphones at the same time as the iPhone 17.
