iOS 26 Bèta 8 is out (but are there also new functions?)
Apple is working steadily on iOS 26 and has now made beta 8 available for developers and testers. This new test version is all about stability and reliability. Unfortunately, no large or striking innovations have been added.
With this update, Apple has again fully focused on getting rid of bugs and solving annoying software errors. That may sound boring, but these improvements make iOS 26 a lot more pleasant and smoother to use.
Each new beta also brings the final release of iOS 26 closer, and with beta 8 we have now almost ended up in the final phase. Apple’s goal is now to put the dots on the ‘i’ and to ensure that everything works flawlessly as soon as the official version is rolled out.
No iOS 19, but iOS 26
Apple is taking a different approach this year. There will be no iOS 19, instead, Apple introduces iOS 26. And that not only applies to the iPhone, because Watchos, MacOS, TVOS and Visionos also switch to the same naming.
Why this unexpected jump? Apple wants to give a little more clarity. Until now, the version numbers of the different systems varied considerably, making it sometimes difficult to see which versions actually belonged together.
With the new approach that becomes a lot easier. All operating systems will now receive the same number, coupled with the year in which they appear.

The final version of iOS 26 appears around the beginning of September. That month, Apple also presents the new iPhones from 2025 and will be released the most important updates of the year.
