This prediction was recently confirmed by new rumors, saying that Apple’s next release in May or June fall. The new generation of the airtag therefore appears in two or three months. New functions

With the airtag 2 we mainly see improvements in the range of the device. The tracker is equipped with the U2 chip, which makes the range up to three times larger than with the current airtag. We saw the U2 chip earlier in the iPhone 15- and iPhone 16 series. The new chip ensures that accurate searching over a larger area is available. Now the precise location within a range of 10 to 25 meters is displayed, with the U2 chip that is no less than 60 meters.

With accurate search, the precise distance between you and the airtag is shown on your iPhone. That’s not all, because an arrow also points in the direction of the airtag. Finding the airtag 2 becomes much easier due to the larger range. In addition, the speaker is better integrated in the next version of the airtag. It becomes more difficult to remove the speaker so that the device is not abused for stalking.

Price of the airtag 2

It is still unclear which changes Apple brings even more to the airtag 2. According to rumors, the tracker gets better integration with the Apple Vision Pro, but that is not very interesting for most users. In any case, no adjustments are expected when designing the airtag. Apple again opts for a round design that is easy to open. In the device we find a button cell battery, just like with the current airtag.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to charge the airtag 2. Few rumors have surfaced about the price of the next airtag. That is good news, because it is possible that the device will take over the price of the current airtag.
