Aitekx Robotruck 1T: like a politician on an election poster

That is disappointing

Aitekx 1T

This is the Aitekx Robotruck 1T, a new electric pick-up that presents itself in images like a politician on an election poster. In practice, the device appears to look a little less slick.

The American Aitekx shows its first four-wheeler with the 1T. It is a Tesla Cybertruck-like pickup, which according to its makers makes extensive use of artificial intelligence and which still looks quite good in the official images. The triangular shape is clearly copied from Tesla, but the design is slightly different and the whole thing certainly looks complete and professional.

At least, on the official ‘renders’. At Electrek.co they were able to see this thing live and also took pictures of it. The result is comparable to an ice-cold shower, because little is left of all that slickness. The real 1T looks more like a third-hand Mitsubishi pickup that has undergone a major makeover in the workshop of an ambitious Indian somewhere. We would politely like to say to the maker in question that it is very well made, but that the result does not yet look completely ‘sell-worthy’. The ‘real’ interior also appears to be far from finished, and looks like the cheap, handmade concept car that this is of course also used to.

Aitekx 1T

The specifications of the 1T are equally impressive, although you may now wonder to what extent Aitekx can be trusted with something as abstract as ‘theory’. In any case, the company promises a range of no less than 885 kilometers, even according to the strict American EPA standard. Sprinting from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 kmh) would have taken just 3.5 seconds. The top speed is less impressive at 165 km/h, but okay.

With a length of less than five meters, this Aitekx is smaller than a Cybertruck, and less large than you might think. As with the Cybertruck, the cargo box is basically covered, but that cover can be removed electrically. In the slick promotional images we even see a built-in, extendable ‘gang plank’, while the foldable partition wall can possibly provide extra loading space.

The Aitekx RoboTruck 1T is available in various versions, with four-wheel drive and in a less fast rear-wheel drive form. Prices start at 45 grand in dollars, but for the most expensive AWD Aitekx asks just under a hundred thousand. The number of options that can then be chosen is striking. Among the additional measures we find an off-road package, that cover screen for the loading platform, but also gull-wing doors.
