Aiways U5 comes to our country in August

While Aiways ’new U6 Ion Concept steals the show, it becomes more clear about the European rollout of its first production model. The U5 comes to our continent a little later than expected.

Aiways, founded in 2017, has announced that it will be coming to Europe with the final U5 in August. It was previously predicted that this would happen in April, but that deadline does not seem to be met. The U5 will be the first electric SUV to offer the new Chinese brand in Europe. The Netherlands belongs to the colorful group of European countries where this will be the first to happen.

Do not expect dealerships or other tangible places; Aiways sells / leases its cars exclusively via the internet. The Aiways U5 has a 190 hp electric motor with a 63 kWh battery pack. A range of 400 kilometers has been written on the WLTP report. The U5 can handle a fast charger. The battery is charged from 30 to 80 percent within 27 minutes. On a normal charging box it takes 8 hours to fully charge the 20 percent battery.

All U5s use the same technology. Aiways comes with three variants in terms of equipment levels: Technic, Standard and Premium. These versions are particularly distinguished in the choice of materials and comfort. The U5 has meanwhile received European type approval and was the first Chinese start-up with electric cars tested by the EuroNcap safety institute. With three stars the U5 gets a tight enough, but according to Aiways work has been done on this.

We have now driven the Aiways U5.
