Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato shines through

Sporty two-seater

Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato teaser

Zagato is working on a very special car based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia; the Giulia SWB Zagato. The design house has already presented some detailed images of its new creation.

Something very special will soon come out from under a cloth in Italy. Zagato is preparing the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, an undoubtedly quite renovated Giulia with the beating heart of the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alfa Romeo promised earlier this year that a new two-door coupé is coming and it may have been referring to this Zagato creation. Because it is now certain that it will be a two-door. We can already see a piece of the interior on a number of new teaser images. On it we see two racing seats partly made of carbon fiber, with something that looks like part of a cage construction behind it. The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato only offers space for two occupants and, unlike the regular Giulia, has no rear doors.

It also emerges that the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato will have a bonnet that opens just in front of the windscreen and hinges at the front of the car. Just the opposite of what is usual. That gives a nice classic and sporty touch to the car. Under the hood is the six-cylinder that we already know from the Giulia Quadrifoglio, which serves as the basis for the Giulia SWB Zagato. Normally, the 2.9 biturbo V6 in the Giulia Quadrifoglio produces 510 hp, but don’t be surprised if the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is much more powerful.

We don’t see much on the dim image of the nose, but we do see that the Italian gets a largely redesigned front with sharply-lined headlights and a completely different front bumper. However, the back will be even more spectacular, as we saw in the above previously shared teaser photo. The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato (which, as ‘SWB’ indicates, will also be shorter than the regular Giulia) will have a voluptuous lined rear with a strip of LED lighting that follows the contours completely. We expect to see more soon.
