Alfa Romeo is said to be pulling the canvas of the Tonale, a compact crossover that should fill the gap of the Giulietta in September. Sales of the new model will then start in November, and it will most likely be in the showroom in February 2022.
The fact that the Tonale is coming is no longer an open secret. Even the potentially production-ready form of the crossover is already known. Alfa Romeo has not yet officially announced the date on which the canvas of the Tonale will be drawn. The Spanish Motor.es reports, however, based on a source within Alfa Romeo that the disclosure will take place in September. Sales will then start in November and the Tonale should be in the showroom in February 2022. Customers who get there early can reportedly opt for a limited Launch Edition. Techzle is awaiting a response from Alfa Romeo.
In 2019 Alfa Romeo unveiled the concept version of the Tonale at the Geneva Salon. For the time being it seems that the production version shows many similarities. Alfa Romeo wants to offer a rebuttal to cars such as the Volvo XC40, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X2 with the Tonale. It is not yet known what kind of powertrains the Italian crossover will get. Presumably he gets the engines of the Jeep Renegade under the hood, which would mean that the top version will be a 240 hp plug-in hybrid. Other options could include a 1.0 three-cylinder turbo with 120 hp and a 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbo with 150 hp. The Tonale will not yet receive a platform and powertrains from PSA. This first is for the Brennero, the compact crossover that will be placed under the Tonale.
