According to Mark Gurman van Bloomberg, Apple focuses more on improving apps in iOS 19 than on introducing new functions.
Apps get better in iOS 19
Gurman says That Apple is more to expand in the upcoming release of iOS 19 on the expansion of existing Apple Intelligence options in apps than on introducing brand new possibilities. That would mean that many apps in iOS 19 are getting a lot better. Since Apple is very behind the realization of the promises for an improved Siri, this is very logical. Apparently the plans to introduce a more conversation -oriented Siri in iOS 19 are now also postponed to iOS 20.
In addition to the Siri functions, Apple will not stop large new AI functions in iOS 19, according to Gurman. So there is especially more of what is already there, which means that more apps will be much better in iOS 19:
The Bad News is that Apple is Unlikely to Unveil Groundbreaking New Ai Features at this Coming WWDC. Instead, It Will Likely Lay Out Plans for Bringing Current Capabilities to More Apps.
(The bad news is that Apple will probably not reveal groundbreaking new AI functions during WWDC. Instead, it will probably explain plans to bring the current possibilities to more apps.)

The practice remains unclear
For the time being it is not entirely clear what this means in practice. It is possible that Apple simply brings certain AI functions to more apps, or possibly even opening an API for developers. It is hard to say which expansion Apple could be planned, so that will continue to wait for the time being.
For the time being, iOS 19 seems to be a kind of catch -up for AI in apps. Apple is still planning to release the new ‘LLM Siri’ in iOS 19.4. This is despite the delay that the development has sustained in the meantime. In addition, Apple has postponed the Siri functions of iOS 18.4 to somewhere ‘in the coming year’, which may still mean iOS 19.
In the Netherlands, it will continue to wait anyway, because Apple Intelligence is not yet available here at all. Possibly an English version will be published here this year (although we do not know when), but we actually expect a Dutch version somewhere in 2026.
