Alpine is in talks with AutoNation about a possible sale of cars in the United States. That would suit the brand’s sales ambitions, especially since AutoNation has the largest dealer network in the US.
Alpine is still a niche brand with its only model, a lightweight sports car, but if it is up to Renault – owner of Alpine – that will not be the case for long. In 2030, the French want to introduce five or six different electric models. These should lead to 60 times higher sales figures than the current ones. Now Alpine still sells several thousand cars a year. Only the A110 and only in Europe. That may change.
Alpine is in talks with AutoNation, the largest car dealer network in the United States. Together, the two are looking at the possibilities of offering Alpine’s cars for sale in the country. It is not yet known when this should happen. Automotive News Europe is only able to reveal that talks are currently taking place.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the French soon want to go that way and initially only offer the A110. Alpine’s second model, a sporty version of the upcoming Renault 5, will arrive in 2024 and is unlikely to find many interested in the US. A lightweight sports car can do as halo car apply from the brand to more ‘own’ models in the form of electric SUVs – they should also come, that is the idea. In addition, Alpine is reportedly only allowed to sell a limited amount of Alpines A110 in the EU from 2024 due to stricter safety rules that the model cannot comply with. An extra market for the ‘lost’ sales is therefore useful and the United States as such is the most logical.
