Alpine has something special up its sleeve. In two weeks, the French brand will present a concept car with a ‘hydrogen powertrain’. A two-seater supercar, to be exact.
The Alpine A4810, as the study model is called, will be presented on Friday 18 March. We are now presented with only a shadowy plate of the nose, on which two viciously can be seen the world in squinting headlights. The A4810 is the result of a collaboration between Alpine and design school IED (Instituto Europeo di Design) in Turin. IED often comes with special automotive creations, such as the IED Tracy, the Hyundai Kite Concept and the IED Syrma. So now the students have started working with an Alpine supercar.
It is not just any supercar, but one with a ‘hydrogen powertrain’. It will not be described in more detail, so it remains to be seen whether this is a fuel cell or a combustion engine that runs on hydrogen. You may know the latter mainly from Toyota, but Alpine’s parent company Renault also seems to be working on this. The A4810 should show ‘extreme sportiness of the future in a more technological and sustainable way’. Don’t count on a production version of the A4810, but interest has been aroused anyway.
