Some apps are available for download as files with the APK extension. Here is how to install them.
To download and install apps in Android, the Play Store is the most trivial solution. But there is another solution: download and run an installation file with the APK (Android Package) extension. This format is similar to the famous Zip and allows you to compress the files and the installation script of the app into a single archive. However, care should be taken to obtain such files from a safe source, for example Download.com.
Android has a security feature that can prevent installation. To deactivate it, go to the section Security and flip the switch Unknown sources in the activated position.

Usually there is a button on the web page to download the APK and the browser will then ask you if you want to open it. If not, launch the file manager and go to the folder Downloads, then tap the name of the file.

Then tap on To installat the bottom of the screen to start installing the application.

The app is launched at the end of the installation and its icon is added to the Android home screen.
