Check at border crossing

At the border crossing at Hazeldonk, the ANWB has seen many overloaded caravans and also numerous cars with too few liquids on board. Various Dutch car holidaymakers appear to be unprepared.
On Friday morning, holidaymakers along the A16 could go to Hazeldonk for a final check of their car or caravan. The ANWB provided the drivers with advice and information. Almost all caravans turned out to be overloaded. One of the caravans checked at the Hazeldonk border crossing was 400 kilos too heavy, the ANWB reported Friday afternoon. The excess weight can, for example, cause damage to the suspension, warns the ANWB. In most cases, that problem was solved by transferring items from the caravan to the car.
Most of the cars that were checked were in good condition, according to the Wegenwacht. However, many lights were replaced and engine oil, coolant and brake fluid were often topped up. Among other things, the profile of the tires, the pressure of the tires and lighting were also examined. Experts were concerned with the folding trailers and caravans. A total of 85 cars, 35 caravans, six trailers and a camper were checked.
