There are countless ways to watch streaming content. There are great services like Apple TV+, Disney+, Prime Video and more. Yet the app (and service) Plex that can be used on iPhone, among other things, is high in the top 10 of OMT editor Dennis Mons. Here’s why he goes to the App Store for that.
Do we perhaps have too many streaming services? I think so. And yet I can’t get enough of it. I definitely have some favorites, but Plex ranks high on the list. It is (in my opinion) one of the most versatile media services ever that you will find in the App Store.
Plex is your ideal App Store Pearl for your iPhone
In a nutshell, Plex is a powerful media streaming app that allows users to organize, stream, and share their media content across multiple devices. It has become increasingly popular among iPhone and hence iOS users because of this App Store gem’s user-friendly interface and wide range of features.
Plex is great to use for standard streaming options such as watching live TV, movies and series. You don’t even need a subscription for that. The option is there for extra features. It costs 4.99 euros per month or you pay a one-off fee of 119.99 euros in the App Store for the rest of your life.

You also have the option to link a variety of existing streaming services. So if you want to see the range of, for example, Apple TV +, Netflix, and Prime Video, you will see it within Plex. Click on a title and you will automatically switch to the correct app (if installed).
Apart from the offer, Plex Premium has another advantage. For example, it may very well be that you also want to watch content that you have stored locally. That can be an iPhone, or for example your MacBook or your PC, but also videos or music that you have in your Dropbox. You can stream it to any device with the greatest of ease via this App Store gem. Most smart TVs even just have a Plex app.
Your own shows, movies and TV literally everywhere
In fact, you just indicate in Plex where all your files are. These are then shown in a very tight overview on all your devices. You even get external information like covers, screenshots, and even a Rotten Tomatoes score. And the great thing is: this App Store gem sorts all files by, for example, movies, series, but also genres and more.
And it gets even better: if you ‘open’ your Plex, all your content can be viewed anywhere. So even if your content is still at home, you can enjoy the movies and series you want to watch on the train as if they came from the Cloud.

As far as I’m concerned, Plex is a versatile and easy-to-use media streaming app on the App Store that’s perfect for iOS users who want to watch content on their iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV. But especially if you use all kinds of equipment together, the program does not turn a blind eye to it.
In other words: I can wholeheartedly recommend this app and service. You can download it here in the App Store.
