App Store Gems: SkyShowtime is hidden gem among the streaming services

Every day we do a tour of the internet for you to find the best apps from the App Store for your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. OMT editor Dunke van Boekel shows SkyShowtime today, because it deserves more attention.

The world of streaming services is jam-packed these days. All major studios are interested in such a monthly amount of thousands of subscribers. In addition to the most famous players, SkyShowtime is also absolutely worth checking out, and here’s why.

On the couch with your iPad and the SkyShowtime catalogue

The streaming service is a collaboration between a number of well-known studios. Think Dreamworks, Universal and Paramount Pictures. Outside the Netherlands, a few of these companies have their own streaming services (think of Peacock and Paramount +), but here you only need to install SkyShowtime on your iPad or iPhone.

The content you find on SkyShowtime naturally varies nicely by genre. For example, if you fancy a science-fiction action series, you can Halo cranking, or the drama western Yellowstone if that’s more your thing. The spy series Rabbithole is already considered one of the best this year. (Tip: Keep track of the movies you watch with Letterboxd.)

The smaller souls have also been thought of, there is a large load of series from Nickelodeon on the service. So put the kids on the couch with an iPad, or stream the content to your Apple TV.

Cheaper than many other streaming services

You pay seven euros per month for this gigantic library, where you can create five profiles. It is of course also possible to download content, so that you can watch at any time. If you are really a huge fan of SkyShowtime and the app can no longer be saved from your iPad, you can also immediately take out a subscription of one year. That will cost you 55 euros.

Are you interested in this App Store Pearl, you can now download it in the App Store.
