App Store Pearls: Without encourages your inner explorer

Every day we scour the internet to find the best apps from the App Store for your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. During this journey of discovery, OMT editor Dunke van Boekel came across Zonder, an app that encourages you to explore the world.

Through films, series, but also social media, we see the most beautiful locations of our planet pass by all day long. Without it is the App Store Pearl that turns your travels into a game.

See your journey on your iPhone with this App Store Pearl

Your Without profile is defined by the passport you get within the iPhone app. This contains information such as how many places you have visited, but also the number of countries, cities and how many kilometers you have ultimately traveled. Those places you can visit range from restaurants and cafes to monuments or other historical sites. In the ‘Explore’ tab of the App Store Pearl there is also a map with nearby places that you can visit.

If you actually visit such a place, the game aspect of the App Store Pearl emerges. For example, by walking into a restaurant you earn XP, which gives you levels again and can end up on the leaderboard. In addition, this adds to the ranking of the city where you are. Just walk around with your iPhone and enjoy the cities.

What else you can do with this iPhone app is view and share your trips. If you have visited a place, it will appear in a timeline. This way you can see when you have done exactly what. You can then also share these trips publicly or privately. The App Store Pearl therefore also has a real social aspect, which makes it even more fun.

Where is that going?

To give you some motivation to hit the road, there are also regular events in the iPhone app where you can visit certain places for more points or the like. Or a specific event in your city.
