Apple adjusts the European App Store rules again: this will change for you

Please note if you regularly use the App Store, because Apple has adjusted the rules again. These mean the changes for you.

Apple has again announced various changes for the App Store. These adjustments are not entirely voluntary, because they are the result of European legislation. According to the European Commission, Apple still does not meet the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This new law is intended to limit Apple’s power and to give smaller developers a fairer chance. Earlier Apple received a fine of 500 million euros for violating the DMA.

To prevent a new fine, Apple has announced that it would relax the rules in the App Store. Developers are given more freedom in promoting actions and discounts with applications or subscriptions. Where previously they were only allowed to refer with a single link to actions on their own website, Apple now allows references to all channels. So those are other applications, websites, web stores or other external pages. Moreover, developers may add more links in the description of the App Store.

You notice this from the changes

The new rules in the App Store not only mean good news for developers, but also for users. Apple did not allow developers to refer to discounts and actions on other pages. Now that is possible, so you are aware of lower prices faster. This way you can take out applications and subscriptions cheaper because they are possible in another web store or on a website.

Developers now get the chance to refer to those actions in the App Store, which makes it more likely that you will eventually be cheaper. Apple has immediately relaxed the rules of the App Store, so developers can already get started with the new possibilities. It probably won’t take long before you see the first changes at applications in the App Store, because developers have been waiting for these adjustments for some time.

Lower committees in the App Store

Apple has adjusted more rules in the App Store. The company has reduced the rates for small developers in the web store. With every sale in the App Store, developers must give up a certain percentage to Apple. Where this could first go up to thirty percent, it is now between five and thirteen percent. That is a big difference, so that small developers ultimately have more money.

This may result in certain applications or subscriptions becoming cheaper. The committees forced developers to use higher prices in the App Store, but that will no longer be the case. Apple has only adjusted the rules of the App Store in the European Union, the new rules do not apply in the United States. Have you brought paid subscriptions or applications in the App Store? Then keep an eye on them, because you may be able to close them at a lower price in the future.
