Apple announces new iPhone SE

Apple announced a new affordable iPhone on Tuesday evening, the iPhone SE 3. The new generation of cheaper iPhones comes with a fast A15 chip and is available later this month.

Unlike its predecessor, the new iPhone SE also supports the fast 5G internet. The phone also gets the faster A15 chip, which we find in the iPhone 13†

The design and size of the new device are similar to the current iPhone SE, which is based on the iPhone 8. This means a 4.7-inch Retina screen and a physical home button, which allows fingerprint recognition to work, but facial recognition is not supported. The camera will be provided with a (largely software) update with support for photographic styles and Deep Fusion.

With the release of the iPhone 12 two years ago, Apple also presented an accessory for the smartphone line: the wireless and magnetic charging system MagSafe. Unfortunately, we do not find this charging system in the new budget phone. You can still charge the smartphone wirelessly, but not via a magnet.

The device is available in white, black and red and with a storage capacity of 64, 128 and 256 GB. Especially the choice for 256 GB will be a welcome addition for some iPhone enthusiasts, since the iPhone SE from 2020 is no longer available in this storage capacity.

The iPhone SE 3 will be priced the same as its predecessor at $429. This makes it one of the most affordable 5G phones in the Netherlands, although the fast mobile network will not be rolled out in our country until next year. You can pre-order from Friday.

The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro will also soon appear in the colors green and Alpine green, Apple announced Tuesday evening.
