The company announced last week that the renewed version of Siri has been postponed again. In the United States, this now leads to a lawsuit, because Apple has been charged for spreading misleading advertising.
Apple Intelligence played a major role in the advertisements of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Even with the iPhone 16th, Apple advertised a lot of advertising about the arrival of Apple Intelligence. The renewed version of Siri was promoted in almost all advertisements, while it is still not available six months after the release of the iPhone 16 series. For this reason, a lawsuit against Apple has been filed in the United States.

Crazy advertising
A federal court in San Jose has sued Apple for spreading misleading advertising. In the court case, Apple is accused of having misled buyers by the promotion of Apple Intelligence. According to the prosecutor, Apple has wrongly advertised with Apple Intelligence, because the most important functions are still not available. It is argued that consumers gave the advertisements the impression that all features would come to the iPhone 16 quickly.
These consumers have purchased an iPhone 16 (plus) or iPhone 16 Pro (Max) to use all Apple Intelligence functions. Half a year later that is still not possible. The court case therefore mentioned that buyers have paid for a product that does not meet their expectations. Apple Intelligence was therefore wrongly used to advertise the iPhone 16 series.

Apple has not yet responded
The indictment also describes that the advertising about Apple Intelligence has made consumers enthusiastic and has convinced to buy an expensive telephone. Now that the most important functions of Apple Intelligence are still not available, consumers feel misled. Apple has now removed an advertisement from Siri 2.0 from YouTube, but that is not enough according to the prosecutor.
Functions such as Genmoji, Image Playground and the renewed version of Siri are frequently shown in advertisements of the iPhone 16 series. In the European Union these features cannot be used (for a long time), which means that European consumers also feel misled. We now have to wait and see how the lawsuit ends in the United States, Apple itself has not yet responded to the indictment. A similar court case may follow later in Europe. After all, in the European Union we have to wait much longer for the release of Apple Intelligence.
