Apple has added this neat trick to the Apple Music app

The Apple Music app already received many new functions in iOS 26, but with the release of iOS 26.1, a handy new trick has been added.

The Apple Music app has a new trick

The Apple Music app’s new trick involves a swipe gesture. The bottom of the Apple Music screen, where the MiniPlayer is located, has already been changed to one row in iOS 26, including the search functions. The MiniPlayer has therefore become a lot smaller. Nevertheless, it has received a new feature in iOS 26.1. You can now swipe left and right on the MiniPlayer to quickly change songs.

This works when the MiniPlayer is fully expanded above the tab bar, but also when it is shrunk next to the tab bar. This new swipe gesture works great and features some nice ones Liquid Glass-effects. The little bit of haptic feedback you feel when you change songs also feels nice. The new trick of the Apple Music app is simple, but also very useful.

That’s how it works

Swiping left takes you straight to the next song in your queue. If you swipe the other way, you go back to the previous song in the queue. So it also works when the button to go to the next song is not visible. And you can also just swipe on the title of a song. This new trick in the Apple Music app feels natural and you’ll soon feel like you’ve never done it any other way.

Furthermore, since iOS 26.1, the AutoMix function in Apple Music is also available when you use AirPlay. With AutoMix you can make music tracks flow smoothly into each other, just like a DJ does. Thanks to the support of AirPlay, you can now also use this function via wireless speakers. If you always want to stay informed about further developments at Apple, sign up for our newsletter!
