Apple is now aiming for a release in the spring of 2026, probably as part of iOS 26.4. According to the tech giant, there were persistent quality problems with the testing of the new Siri functions, for that reason they stopped a release to prevent disappointment among users. They have now switched to a more powerful underlying architecture to tackle the problems.
Apple Intelligence for Siri postponed
During WWDC 2024, Apple announced a large AI breakthrough for Siri, where the assistant would become smarter, more personal and context conscious. The intention was to launch these improvements in the autumn of 2025, together with the iPhone 16 series.
In practice, however, the technical challenge turned out to be greater than expected. Apple worked on two different Siri architectures: one stable but limited in possibilities, and one more advanced, but not yet reliable enough for millions of users. Combining these systems led to instability, so Siri did not function properly until a third of time.
Craig Federerghi, head of software at Apple, indicated that it takes more time to make the new Siri reliable. That is why the release has been postponed to spring of 2026, with the aim that Siri is really ready for large -scale use.

Apple Intelligence for Siri promises to be a big breakthrough for the speech assistant, but what exactly are we waiting for? Siri’s upgrade comprises a number of groundbreaking functions:
- Personal results: Siri will soon be able to use personal information, such as e-mails, agendas and messages, to give contextual answers. For example: if you ask ‘When does my mother’s flight land?’, Siri is looking for flight information in your messages and then checks the current status online.
- Insight into what is on your screen: Siri can ultimately understand what is displayed on your iPhone or iPad screen. This allows you to ask questions about information that you see at that time, or perform actions based on the content shown.
- In-app promotions: Siri gets deeper integration with apps, so that you can perform complex tasks without operating the app manually. Consider editing a photo, booking an appointment, or performing actions within apps based on the context.

Apple has set the aim of launching the new Siri functions with iOS 26.4, an update that will probably appear in March or April 2026 according to the usual schedule. The exact date can still vary, but Apple is determined to meet the deadline this time.
Apple Intelligence in Dutch
Apple has announced that Apple Intelligence will be officially supported for Dutch at the end of 2025. This means that from that moment you can use the AI ​​functions of Apple, such as text improvement, Genmoji, summaries and more, in your own language. It is not yet clear whether the Siri functions described above will also be available in Dutch immediately when introducing.
