iOS 26.1 is out: these are the new features
Apple has released a major update for your iPhone. And this time there are a lot of cool features. Are you curious and do you want to install the update yourself as quickly as possible? You do this via Settings > General > Software update.

Are you going to buy a new iPhone, iPad or Mac(Book) soon? Then it is advisable to carefully check which processor the device is running on. Only devices with the latest chips work with Apple Intelligence.

Apple TV Plus has been renamed (and here’s what it looks like)
Apple TV Plus is Apple’s streaming service where you can watch well-known series such as Severance and Prehistoric Planet. But Apple recently changed the name. Apple TV Plus is now called Apple TV.

WhatsApp launches app for the Apple Watch (with new features)
Meta isn’t always very convincing when it comes to apps for the Apple Watch. Sometimes the company supports watchOS, sometimes not. But now an update to WhatsApp is being rolled out with a fully functional Apple Watch version.

Live translations via AirPods will still come to the EU
Live Translation is available for the AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2 and the more expensive version of the AirPods 4 (with active noise cancellation). The feature launched in the US and select other countries with iOS 26, but has not been available in the EU until now.

Siri on your iPhone will soon become a lot smarter thanks to Google
According to Bloomberg Apple is developing a version of Siri that is more powerful and smarter. It is striking that this Siri 2.0 is powered by Google Gemini. Apple will pay Google about $1 billion per year for a 1.2 trillion-parameter AI model developed by Google.

Google Maps gets new features (but not all for the Netherlands)
Google is working on an upgrade of Google Maps with Gemini. According to the search giant, you should soon be able to ask questions to the AI bot while driving. They also hope to improve navigation.

Enable Apple Intelligence: this is how you do it
Apple Intelligence is available in Dutch for the first time, meaning you can finally enable all the new features in the Netherlands and Belgium. That is good news, because it means that almost all applications will have more useful features that work with artificial intelligence.
