Shortly before Apple launched the iPhone 17, Google released the Pixel 10 – time to compare these two devices.
iPhone 17 vs Pixel 10
The iPhone 17 is slightly more expensive than the Pixel 10, but the difference is not very big. The iPhone 17 has not yet dropped in price, so the difference will probably become a lot smaller in the near future: for the iPhone 17 you currently pay € 969, for the Pixel 10 now about 740 euros (at launch it was 899 euros). Reason enough to see whether the difference in performance between these devices is not very large.
Housing
In any case, the dimensions of the iPhone 17 and the Pixel 10 do not differ much from each other. The iPhone 17 comes in at 149.6 x 71.5 x 8 mm, the Pixel 10 at 152.8 x 72 x 8.6 mm. The Pixel is therefore slightly larger and therefore slightly heavier: 204 g compared to 177 g. In practice you don’t notice much of these differences.
Screen
Both devices have a 6.3-inch 120 Hz OLED screen with a maximum brightness of 3000 nits. The iPhone’s screen also has an anti-reflective coating and also has a higher resolution: 1206 x 2622 pixels compared to 1080 x 2424 pixels. The iPhone’s screen will be slightly easier to read in direct sunlight, but here too you will probably not notice much of this in practice.
Camera

We see some more differences with the camera. But we start with a similarity: both devices have a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera on the back. In addition, both the iPhone 17 and the Pixel 10 have an ultra-wide-angle camera. On the iPhone this is also a 48-megapixel camera, on the Pixel 10 it is a 13-megapixel camera. You will probably notice the difference in megapixels between the ultra-wide-angle cameras in practice.
The Pixel also has a 10.8-megapixel zoom camera with a 5x optical zoom. The iPhone does not have a separate zoom lens, but with the wide-angle camera it is possible to optically zoom in 2x. Finally, we see another difference with the front camera. The Pixel 10 has a 10.5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, the iPhone 17 has an 18-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with Center Stage. The latter helps to automatically keep yourself in the picture.
Performance
The iPhone 17 runs on the A19 chip, the Pixel 10 on the Google Tensor G5. In all benchmarks the A19 clearly appears to be the faster of the two. The Pixel, on the other hand, does have more RAM: 12 GB compared to 8 GB. However, this does not catch up to the performance of the iPhone 17. The difference is not really noticeable in everyday use. This only happens when you start carrying out heavier tasks.
There is also a difference in storage space: the iPhone 17 is available with 256 GB or 512 GB. With the Pixel 10 you also have two choices, but it is between 128 GB and 256 GB. If you want more than 256 GB of storage space, you will automatically end up with the iPhone 17.
Battery
With 4970 mAh, the Pixel 10 has a much more powerful battery than the iPhone 17 (3692 mAh). Despite this, the Pixel’s battery life isn’t very impressive. Although Google says that the battery life is more than 24 hours, this appears not to be the case in practice. There are tests that show that you can only watch 12.5 hours of video with a fully charged Pixel 10. Even if we round that up considerably, the battery life of the Pixel 10 does not come close to that of the iPhone 17. With the iPhone 17 you can watch video for up to 30 hours.

Conclusion: iPhone 17 vs Pixel 10
The biggest disadvantage of the Pixel 10 is the battery life, which is quite disappointing in practice. In addition, the front camera is less good, the device is less fast than the iPhone and you have less storage space. On the other hand, it is cheaper, you get a zoom camera with 5x optical zoom and more RAM. As far as we are concerned, the iPhone 17 is the winner in this comparison, mainly due to its much longer battery life.
