Apple is working on iOS 18.2: these features are coming to your iPhone

iOS 18.1 will be released soon, but in the background Apple is already working hard on iOS 18.2. These features come to your iPhone with the update!

Apple is working on iOS 18.2

It will soon be time for an update again, because Apple is rumored to be planning to release iOS 18.1 on October 28. In the new iOS version, the Control Panel gets new functions and it becomes possible to take spatial photos with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and the iPhone 16 series. Apple is now working hard on iOS 18.2, which will probably be released at the end of this year.

With iOS 18.2, more Apple Intelligence features are being rolled out and the technology is becoming available in more countries. Unfortunately, in the European Union we still have to do without Apple Intelligence, making iOS 18.2 a relatively minor update. That doesn’t mean that Apple won’t be bringing any new features to the iPhone in December. This gives the Mail app a completely new layout and gives you more freedom in organizing your iPhone.

These new features are coming

When announcing iOS 18, Apple already unveiled the new design of the Mail app. In the updated version of the app, emails are automatically placed in certain categories. Private messages, transactions, updates and advertising are immediately separated in your inbox. Are you looking for an email from a specific company? Then you can show all messages from one company with a new view. Apple makes the Mail app in iOS 18.2 so much clearer.

In addition, users in the European Union will have more freedom when setting up the iPhone. Customizing your default browser becomes easier, so you’re less dependent on Safari. Starting in iOS 18.2, you can also customize which apps are used by default for phone calls, sending messages, and managing passwords. Apple previously did not allow this, but this will change with iOS 18.2.

That’s not all, because in iOS 18.2, Apple allows you to remove a number of apps from the iPhone. This concerns the App Store, Messages, Camera, Photos and Safari. These applications are installed on your iPhone by default and cannot be uninstalled now. This is possible from iOS 18.2, but be careful. These apps are often used on a daily basis, so make sure you install a replacement application first.

Release of iOS 18.2

We will have to wait a little longer for iOS 18.2, because Apple will not release the update until the end of this year. Last year, iOS 17.2 was released on December 11, a year earlier, iOS 16.2 was released on December 13. In 2021, iOS 15.1 was released on December 13, so it’s almost certain that iOS 18.2 will be released around the same time. Apple usually sticks to the same schedule, so we can already predict when you can update.

Apple usually releases new software versions on a Monday or Tuesday, so that means you have iOS 18.2 on December 9 or 10 can install. The update may appear a week later, in which case iOS 18.2 has run out December 16 or 17 available. iPadOS 18.2 and watchOS 11.2 will be released at the same time as iOS 18.2.
