Gurman and Kuo disagree on iPad Fold
On Monday, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that an iPad Fold will appear next year. This would be Apple’s first device with a foldable screen. Another usually very reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman now contradicts this and says he has not heard anything about an iPad Fold. Who is right?
iPad Fold isn’t coming next year
In all likelihood, Gurman is right here. Apple is currently busy producing Apple Reality, Apple’s first VR glasses. These glasses will appear this spring, so there is little chance that another major project such as the iPad Fold will follow next year.
Ross Young, an expert in the field of displays, also indicated that he does not expect the iPad Fold next year. The chance therefore seems small that we will see an iPad with a folding screen next year. Young does not expect Apple’s first folding screen until 2025 or 2026 at the earliest. So wait a little longer.
Young: Apple is working on the MacBook Fold
Gurman does not expect to see a folding screen from Apple for the time being, but according to Young, Apple is certainly working on a device with a folding screen. According to Young, it is a MacBook Fold, which Apple still refers to in the production process as “notebook‘. The MacBook will have a 20.5-inch screen according to Young and will appear in 2025.

Earlier there was speculation about a MacBook with a touchscreen, so this could also be the MacBook Fold. The MacBook can then be folded in such a way that you can also use it as a large tablet with a touchscreen. In any case, it is still waiting for the first device with a folding screen, but Apple is busy behind the scenes with the first folding device.
