If you listen to Spotify on the way, use the data of your mobile bundle. And you would rather not. These tips help you save data.
Saving Spotify Data: The three best tips to spare your bundle
Streaming music is delicious, but it quickly taps your mobile data. Fortunately, Spotify offers useful functions with which you can drastically lower data consumption. Discover how with a few simple adjustments you can continue to listen for hours without plundering your bundle.

The fastest way to save with Spotify Data is to use the ‘Datasaver’ option. This function reduces streaming quality and eliminates other functions that use a lot of data.
Saving Spotify Data: Spending mobile data bundle by encouraging datasaver
- Start Spotify and tap the ‘Home’ button at the bottom;
- Tap your profile;
- Choose ‘Settings and Privacy’;
- Tap ‘Save and offline data’;
- Turn on the function at ‘Datasaver’.
Set lower sound quality
The quality when streaming via mobile network is on ‘automatic’ as standard. Spotify then chooses the best streaming quality. The better or faster your internet connection, the better the sound quality. That also means that Spotify uses more of your mobile data bundle and costs more data if you have a good connection.

You can also set the quality of streaming yourself. The sound quality is a bit longer, but that also means that Spotify is eating less of your data bundle. You set the sound quality in the following way:
- Tap ‘Home’ at the bottom;
- Then you tap your profile photo at the top;
- Then choose ‘Settings and Privacy’;
- Tap ‘audio quality’;
- Under ‘Streaming via mobile network’ you select the ‘Low’ option.
You have to experiment with the different options yourself. If you don’t find the sound quality good enough, you can put the quality on, for example, ‘normal’.
Download music
You can also download the music. Once the music is on your iPhone or other device, the app hardly uses your mobile data bundle anymore. And that makes this an excellent way to save data in Spotify. You just have to keep in mind that before downloading the music you have to be connected to a WiFi network, otherwise it will cost you a lot of your bundle.

Then you follow the steps below to download the music in Spotify and thus spare your mobile data bundle. In this example we show you how you can download one of your own playlists with music. But it is also possible to download an individual song or only get a specific album.
- Open Spotify and tap at the bottom of ‘Library’;
- Tap the playlist you want to download;
- Tap the ball with the arrow down;
- Spotify is now going to download the music, this can take a while depending on your internet speed.
Downloading is ready when you see a green ball with an arrow with every number you want to download.
