Meta will now use your data to train their AI. Don’t you want that? Then you have to object to Meta. That’s how you do it!

So you have up to and including 26 May to object that Meta should not use your data. Meta has also announced that they will not use the data of people who object to training their AI.

To object you must fill in the objection form. Meta has already started sending e-mails stating how they want to use your information to improve their AI. It can also be found (a bit hidden) how you can object to Meta Ai. Below you will find the objection form for both Facebook and Instagram.

You must then log in to your Facebook or Instagram account and tap ‘Send’. In the text box above the shipping button you can possibly say something why you do not want to share the data with Meta AI.

Facebook also indicates that they also honor the objection with other accounts that you have added to the same account center. So do you have Instagram and Facebook both hang on the same account? Then you only have to object once. If you have completed and sent the form you will receive a confirmation email stating that your data is not used.

Monique Verdier from the Dutch Data Protection Authority says it is smart to object anyway. Because if you have ever posted something on Instagram or Facebook, that data is in their AI model. And you don’t know what exactly they will do with that data. And once that data is in Meta AI, then you can’t just get it out again.
