Apple Maps has a new feature that you really need to see

Apple regularly adds new features to the Maps app, but the latest feature of the app is something you really need to see. This is the function.

This new Apple Maps feature is a must-see

The new feature in Apple Maps that you really need to see has been added especially for the Formula 1 Grand Prix 2026. The 2026 F1 season starts next month and it is the first season in which Apple has exclusive streaming rights to Apple TV in the United States. In honor of the kickoff, Apple has added this new Apple Maps experience — with more to come.

This is new

In Apple Maps you can now view detailed track maps with things like corner numbers, grandstands and even a 3D landmark of the F1 pit garage. For people attending the Australian Grand Prix in person, Apple Maps also makes it easier to follow directions. An overview:

  • Grand Prix elements include realistic edges, labeled 3D grandstands, pedestrian bridges and all fourteen corners marked on the track.
  • Pop-up locations show the entrance gates to the circuit, facilities such as toilets, first aid and merchandise stands, plus directions to your grandstand.
  • 3D Grand Prix Circuit Landmarks depict key buildings around Albert Park including the Pit Building, grandstands, Lakeside Stadium, the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Center and the finish line.
  • 3D Melbourne Landmarks include city landmarks such as AAMI Park, Eureka Tower, Luna Park, Marvel Stadium, Rod Laver Arena, Royal Exhibition Building, Shrine of Remembrance and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

There’s more to come

Apple Maps will add details for more races around the world throughout the rest of the year. There is also a new ‘2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World Guide‘ directly in Apple Maps, with information about all twenty-four Grand Prix circuits. Starting this year, Apple TV subscribers in the United States will be able to stream all F1 races at no additional cost. If you want to watch the races in the Netherlands, you can do so on Viaplay or F1 TV.
