Apple Maps on the web is now in beta (and available to everyone)

Apple Maps has been getting better and better over the years. There is now even a version of Apple Maps for the web that anyone can use.

Apple Maps for the web is now available

Apple Maps has always been available only as a native app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, for example. But now there is a beta of Apple Maps that can be used via the web.

This means that you can consult Apple maps anywhere with a browser (and an internet connection). It is also the first time that Apple Maps is available on a Windows PC, for example.

Apple Maps on the web is now in beta (and available to everyone)

Apple Maps for the web is currently in public beta. That means that Maps features are pretty limited right now. You can search for locations and plan a route. There are also a few guides available, and you get some extra options when you tap on a familiar spot. But that’s about it for now.

To view Apple Maps on the web, open a browser window and go to the website: beta.maps.apple.com. The website and its menu options are currently only in English. Apple has already indicated that they are working on supporting other languages, browsers and systems.

Apple Maps with cycling routes

At the moment, the web version of Apple Maps only supports driving and walking routes. There are no cycling routes to be found in this version of the navigation app.

If you still want to plan cycling routes with Apple Maps, you have to use the official app. Apple introduced cycling routes years ago with iOS 14, but never brought cycling navigation to the Netherlands. That finally changed earlier this year. Now it is possible to plan cycling routes with the Apple Maps app here too.
