Apple has added a nice feature for music lovers to iOS 18. This makes it possible for you to now also be able to feel music while playing it. That’s nice because it adds an extra dimension to your music. In addition, it is of course also useful for people who have difficulty or no hearing.

There are a few requirements for this position, which you can find below:

  • The function only works from an iPhone 12 or newer (unfortunately the function does not work on the iPhone SE);
  • You must have iOS 18 installed;
  • Your iPhone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network or cellular network.

The feature is currently only available in the Apple Music, Apple Music Classical, and Shazam apps. Third-party apps may add this feature in the future.

According to Apple, the feature works with the speakers on your iPhone, wired headphones, and supported Apple and Beats wireless headphones (such as AirPods).

The function to feel music is not enabled by default on your iPhone. So you have to enable the option yourself first. You do this in the following way:

Enable tactile music signals on the iPhone

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;

  2. Choose ‘Accessibility’;

  3. Scroll down and tap ‘Tactile Music Cues’;

  4. Set the slider for ‘Tactile music signals’ to on.

Then you can start a song with, for example, Apple Music and immediately feel the vibrations of the song. Depending on the song, you may sometimes feel the haptic feedback better than others.
