There will be a successor to the Apple Pencil 2. In any case, the Apple Pencil 3 will have a useful function: support for Find My.
Apple Pencil 3 with support for Find My
It’s been a few years since the Apple Pencil 2 was released. But according to various patents, Apple is already working on the successor. More rumors have now surfaced about the new Pencil.
According to several files in iOS 17.4, Apple has already created a new Apple Pencil. This new pen, the Apple Pencil 3, has received support for the Find My app. This will allow you to easily find your Apple Pencil if you have not clicked it on your iPad.
There are a lot of Apple devices that already support Find My, like AirTags and AirPods. So adding this feature to the Apple Pencil is a logical step.
It is not known whether the Apple Pencil 3 will also receive the new Ultra Wideband. This would then allow you to use the ‘Find Nearby’ feature so you can find exactly where you left the Apple Pencil in your home.
More new features for Apple Pencil 3?
It is not yet known what other functions the Apple Pencil 3 with support for Find My will have. Previous rumors about a successor to the Apple Pencil 2 have hopefully already lifted the veil.
For example, patents would indicate that Apple plans to give the Apple Pencil 3 more touch functions. The current Apple Pencil 2 has a ‘touch surface’ that you can tap to perform a function. The patent states that Apple will add more functions and make the touch-sensitive surface a bit larger.
Then you can not only tap, but also attach a function to a pinch movement. In addition, it should also be possible to add even more functions with a swipe over the pen.
