Apple Reality Pro concept: what will Apple’s first VR glasses look like?

Apple’s first VR glasses are rumored to be unveiled next week. This concept of the Apple Reality gives you a preview.

Apple Reality will be released next week

Apple’s WWDC begins next week. It is expected that Apple will finally unveil Apple Reality, the company’s first VR glasses. A lot is already known about the technical specifications of the Apple Reality. For example, the glasses get two 4K micro-LED screens with a size of 1.41-inch. These screens reportedly get a peak brightness of 5000 nits.

Apple Reality Pro concept: what will Apple’s first VR glasses look like?

Apple’s first VR glasses get curved design

If we are to believe the rumors, the design of the Apple Reality resembles ski goggles. The front of the glasses is made of curved glass. It is precisely this glass front that causes production problems at Apple. The curved glass is expensive to produce and is said to be very fragile. For example, the screen would break even faster than an iPhone screen, leading to concerns about the safety of the glasses.

The housing of the Apple Reality is probably made of aluminum, so that the weight of the glasses is kept as low as possible. The wearing comfort of the glasses is one of the most important aspects according to Apple. The VR glasses therefore have an external battery that you can hang around your hip. For example, the glasses themselves are extremely light, and you can wear Apple Reality for a longer period of time without any problems.

Digital Crown comes to Apple’s VR glasses

The control of the Apple Reality is mainly done through hand gestures. According to this concept, the VR glasses therefore only have two buttons, including the Digital Crown. We already know that button from the Apple Watch, but it gets a completely new function with the Apple Reality. With the Digital Crown it will soon be possible to switch between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Another physical button can be seen on the other side of the glasses. This button is probably intended for various functions of the Apple Reality. It is quite possible that this button is comparable to the action button of the Apple Watch Ultra. You then decide for yourself which function the button will have in the settings of the Apple Reality.

Apple Reality is getting a lot of cameras

In order to properly analyze the environment, the Apple Reality will have a huge number of cameras according to the concept. The glasses reportedly have as many as fourteen cameras, which have different functions. The lenses on the front and outside of the goggles are mainly for scanning the room and for a smooth transition from VR to AR.

The cameras on the inside of the goggles can recognize the wearer’s facial expressions. For example, these expressions can soon be transferred to your digital avatar, so that virtual communication runs a lot more naturally. The cameras can also be used for gaming, so the Apple Reality will recognize it when you look away while playing a scary game.
