Apple refreshes MacOS: this has been improved

During the Apple WWDC, Apple presented the latest version of MacOS: the operating system for the Mac and MacBook. MacOS 12, called MacOS Monterey, makes working with a Mac and an iPad easier.

Developers conference WWDC opened with a Keynote from Apple, highlighting all new apps and operating systems. In addition to MacOS Monterey, Apple presented iOS 15 (the operating system of the iPhone), iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8.

macOS Monterey

The most striking innovation of MacOS 12 is the collaboration with the new iPadOS 15. Thanks to the universal control functionality, you can easily continue working on your project on the Mac on the iPad, or vice versa. It is even possible to use the same mouse and keyboard. With this, Apple narrows the boundaries between the various devices and shows that they would like to present the tablet as a full-fledged laptop alternative.

Sharing files between both devices has also become easier: you can simply use drag and drop to swing files from one device to another.

AirPlay and more

Also, Apple is (finally) bringing AirPlay to the Mac so you can bring photos and videos to your Mac’s screen as well. Assignments functionality (Shortcuts) is also making an appearance on the Mac. This functionality, which you may know from the mobile devices, makes it possible to perform self-made automated tasks. At set times and moments, or at the push of a button. For example, to send your location to a contact at a set time.

A Safari refresh makes the browser look a bit more modern and trackers have more trouble collecting data about you. It is also possible to group tabs.

The new Focus option ensures that you can work on your Mac as undisturbed as possible by hiding notifications and other distractions.
