Apple refuses to approve this important Spotify update

Apple still has not responded to the Spotify update with pricing information and links to subscriptions directly in the app. You need to know this.

Apple refuses to approve this Spotify update

Apple was recently fined billions by the European Commission for abuse of power in the App Store. When you take out a subscription to Spotify, for example, in the App Store, you pay more than when you take out a subscription via the internet. This is due to the commissions that Apple charges in the App Store and that is where the European Commission so I don’t agree.

Despite this, Apple is now holding back an important Spotify update in the EU. In that update, Spotify adds links to other payment methods, which Apple must allow from now on, according to the aforementioned ruling. Stopping the update will prevent this from happening.

Apple is silent in all languages

The Spotify update was already submitted to Apple on March 5, but Spotify has… The Verge still no response received. In addition to the fact that this does not add the links to other payment methods, Spotify is also unable to add bug fixes and any new features to the iOS app.

Spotify has now sent an email to the European Commission. It states, among other things: ‘this is yet another example of how Apple is trying to circumvent and/or fail to comply with the Commission’s decision’. Spotify is urging the European Commission to contact Apple and demand that the Spotify update changes be approved.

The email goes on to say, “it’s been nine days and we’re still waiting to hear from Apple.” The delay contradicts Apple’s claim to handle app application reviews within 24 hours and also conflicts with the Commission’s approval timeline.
