Apple has released another update! It is a new test version, because iOS 18.5 beta 3 is available for developers. For the time being, Apple is introducing few functions in the latest software version. Instead, the company carries out improvements on the iPhone. It is a number of adjustments to the design of iOS 18, so it becomes easier to adjust the layout of the mail app.
With iOS 18.4, Apple adapted the design of the mail app. In this renewed design you have more buttons, categories and options in the application. Not everyone is enthusiastic about this new layout, which makes it possible to choose the earlier design from iOS 18.5. This function is built in iOS 18.5 Beta 3, so that users can select the design of the mail app themselves.

With iOS 18.5 Beta 3, almost no new functions will come to your iPhone. The update has the same adjustments as earlier test versions of iOS 18.5. You can disable contact photos in the Mail app and the AppleCare settings will be displayed more clearly. Apple adds a framework in which the cover of AppleCare are better explained. This framework is still missing in iOS 18.4.
Furthermore, there are few changes to your iPhone with iOS 18.5. Apple probably makes small adjustments in the software, to improve existing functions and the security of your iPhone. That is not very strange, because many features of iOS 18 have already appeared. Apple Intelligence is of course an exception to this, it is unknown when that technique becomes available in Dutch.
Release of the update
Apple has released iOS 18.5 beta 3 for developers. The final version of the update will probably appear next month. In 2024, iOS 17.5 appeared on Monday 13 May, IOS 16.5 was released on Thursday 18 May a year earlier. Apple usually maintains the same timeline when releasing new software versions. It is therefore expected that the final update will be released in the second week of May.
Apple often releases updates on a Monday or Tuesday, so the release of iOS 18.5 may stand out Monday May 12 or Tuesday May 13, 2025. With iOS 18.5 Beta 3, it is in any case confirmed that it is a small update. For new functions we probably have to wait for iOS 19, the most important software update of the year for the iPhone.
