Apple Sports can now be downloaded for free in the Netherlands. For sports enthusiasts, this is an app you should definitely try!
Apple Sports officially available in the Netherlands: this is what you can do with it
The Apple Sports app has been around since 2024, but it was not available in the Netherlands. That has now changed, because the app can now be used on iPhone and iPad in several European countries (including the Netherlands and Belgium).
The app allows you to view live scores, statistics and current information of various sports matches. Examples include the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the NBA and Formula 1. But not all types of matches can be viewed. For example, the Premier League is missing.
There are of course many more apps that allow you to keep track of scores and statistics of sports matches. But Apple Sports excels in its simplicity. There are no unnecessary menus or annoying advertisements. If you just want to see the scores (or the positions in a race) the app is a real relief.
The app shows at a glance which (football) matches or races are taking place today and which matches are still on the agenda. When you first start the app, you indicate which leagues and teams you prefer. You will then receive a clear list of your favorite teams.
In addition to today’s and tomorrow’s matches, you can also view the results from the day before. Are you tapping a football match? You will then see the results of previous matches. During a race you can see, among other things, a general overview of all drivers.
If a match is played live, the score can be followed in real time via Live Activities. These will then appear on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. With Live Activities you no longer have to open the Apple Sports app all the time to view the score.
