Apple too expensive? These eight cheap devices will be released in 2025

It looks like Apple will release a relatively large number of cheap devices in 2025. This is what you can expect.

These cheap devices from Apple are coming in 2025

With developments such as Apple Intelligence and its own chip designs, Apple wants to improve many relatively cheap products. This way the company can continue to compete in an increasingly crowded market. The developments also indicate a slight shift in Apple’s approach to low-cost devices. This introduces features that were once reserved for top models, such as OLED screens, Face ID and advanced wireless technology.

Apple’s first proprietary modem and Bluetooth chip also come first to the entry-level models. In addition, Apple focuses on cheaper smart home devices, such as the HomePod mini, Apple TV and Command Center. We expect a total of eight new or updated low-cost Apple devices this year:

  • MacBook Air (M4)
  • iPhone SE (4th generation)
  • iPad (11th generation)
  • AirTag (2nd generation)
  • Command Center
  • HomePod mini (2nd generation)
  • Apple TV 4K (4th generation)
  • Apple Watch SE (3rd generation)

MacBook Air (M4)

The MacBook Air finally gets the M4 chip, which delivers up to 25 percent faster performance than the current model. It may also get support for dual external displays and a 12MP webcam with Center Stage (Center). The new models will be launched in the spring of 2025 and will likely maintain their current starting price of 1299 euros. All models now start with 16 GB of memory as standard.

iPhone SE (4th generation)

The iPhone SE 4 is also one of the cheap devices to be released this year. The new iPhone SE is rumored to have a design similar to the iPhone 14, with a 6.1-inch OLED screen, Face ID, a USB-C port and a 48MP rear camera.

The device probably has an A18 chip with 8 GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence and Apple’s first own 5G modem. The price of the new iPhone SE, which is expected to be launched in March 2025, will probably be between 500 and 600 euros.

iPad (11th generation)

The 11th generation iPad will retain the 10.9-inch display, but will likely get an A17 Pro or A18 chip with 8GB of RAM to enable Apple Intelligence. The device is expected in the spring of 2025, possibly for the same price of 409 euros. An upgrade to 128 GB is probably also possible.

AirTag (2nd generation)

The AirTag 2 is also one of the cheap devices of 2025. The new version has an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip for three times the tracking range, better Vision Pro integration and a tamper-resistant speaker for improved anti-stalking measures. The AirTag 2 will be launched in mid-2025, probably for the same price of 39 euros.

Command Center

Apple’s Command Center, also known as HomePod with Display, will be a brand new smart home hub product with a 7-inch display, built-in speakers, a camera for FaceTime and proximity sensors for dynamic interface adjustments. It runs on the new homeOS with Siri integration.

The price is still unknown, but is expected to be competitive with similar products such as the Amazon Echo Show, which costs around 110 euros. A more expensive version of the device on a robotic arm may appear in 2026, so the first Command Center will likely be an entry-level model, similar to the HomePod mini.

HomePod mini (2nd generation)

The second-generation HomePod mini is expected to feature a new internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip that supports Wi-Fi 6E, improved audio quality, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. We expect the device in mid-2025 for an unchanged price of 109 euros.

Apple television

Apple TV 4K (4th generation)

A new Apple TV 4K is rumored to feature an updated A-series chip (likely the A16 or newer), support for Wi-Fi 6E, and possibly a built-in camera for FaceTime. The device will be launched in 2025 and the starting price may be lower than the current 169 euros. This makes the Apple TV 4K more in line with competitors such as Amazon’s Fire Stick.

Apple Watch SE (3rd generation)

The Apple Watch SE 3 will likely have a larger display, a faster chip (the S10 or S11) and possibly a more affordable plastic casing. The current model will be three years old this fall. The device is expected at the end of 2025 for a starting price of 249 euros or possibly slightly less to better compete with similar devices.
