You can make all kinds of purchases via the Apple TV. You can make purchases not only when purchasing apps or films, but also the conclusion of subscriptions and even in apps. Thanks to TVOS you can also approve these purchases with an Apple Watch or iPhone.
When you make a purchase on an Apple TV you normally have to enter the password of your Apple ID. Since TVOS 15 you can also confirm this via an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. You can then use Face ID, Touch ID or the secure connection of the Apple Watch to approve the purchase.
Approval of Apple TV Purchases
If desired, you can purchase purchases on an Apple TV with TVOS 15 or approve newer via the iPhone or iPad with at least iOS/iPados 15. In addition, this is also possible on an Apple Watch with Watchos 8.5 or newer.
To make approval via Apple devices you must be the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch nearby and be logged in with the same Apple ID as the purchase. In addition, both devices must also be connected to the same WiFi network and Bluetooth must be active.
Apple TV Purchasing
- Download an app, movie or make a purchase
- In the payment overview, select the ‘Confirm with Apple Device’
- A notification appears on the device automatically
- Open the notification and confirm the payment
On an iPhone or iPad you can confirm the purchase with Face ID or Touch ID, entering a password is not necessary. You can confirm the payment on an Apple Watch by pressing the side button twice. Once the confirmation is completed, the purchase is carried out and you can use the app, film or service.
