Problems with the Siri Remote for Apple TV can often be solved by going through a number of steps or updating. These are software solutions. If moisture has gotten between the buttons or the buttons are worn, it is of course a different story.

Most problems with electronic devices can be solved by simply restarting the device. This is no different with the Apple TV and the Siri Remote. Press and hold the TV button and the lower volume button at the same time for about 5 seconds.

The status light on your Apple TV will cycle on and off. Release the buttons. Now wait about 10 seconds until you see a message on your TV that the connection has been lost. Once the Siri Remote has rebooted, hopefully the issues will be resolved.

Another option is to unplug the Apple TV for a while. Make sure to switch off the device before you disconnect the power. Then wait at least 5 seconds and then plug it back in and turn the device back on.

Other possible solutions

If restarting your Apple TV and the Siri Remote doesn’t work, make sure your device is updated to the latest version of tvOS. You can arrange this via your iPhone or iPad.

Even when the batteries of the remote control are low, delay problems may occur or certain buttons may no longer work properly. Logically, it is then smart to put the Siri Remote on the charger. Do this for at least half an hour.

Also make sure that you are not too far away from your Apple TV (maximum 6 meters) and make sure that there are no obstacles between the Siri Remote and the media player. If the device is in a cupboard, try the remote control when the door of the TV cabinet is open.
