Cleaning the case of your Apple Watch

First, we’ll tell you how to clean the Apple Watch case, i.e. the device itself. It may sound really stupid, but it’s important to unplug it from the charger and turn it off (before we get angry emails). If your watch has a strap that cannot withstand water, remove it.

  • Wipe your Apple Watch with a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. If desired, wet it and hold the device under warm running water for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Turn and press Digital Crown under the water to clean any dirt underneath.
  • Dry the entire device with a non-abrasive and lint-free cloth.

According to Apple, it is possible to clean your Apple Watch with certain alcohol wipes. Do not clean with soap or other cleaning agents. This can damage the Apple Watch.

Cleaning Apple Watch bands

The case of your Apple Watch is one thing, but of course you also want a clean strap. You also have to clean it regularly, because all those bacteria that collect in it through sweat and other causes are not pleasant either.

Silicone or strap

There are of course different cleaning methods for the different bands. For example, it is obvious that you often have to clean silicone straps. They are of course mainly made to use the Apple Watch during sports.

For simple cleaning, wipe it with a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. For a somewhat deeper cleaning, use warm water and mild hand soap. Then dry it with the non-abrasive, lint-free cloth.

Nylon or metal strap

A nylon or a braided strap naturally retains dirt much more easily than a silicone one. Apple recommends that you don’t use soap, just a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth that you wet as needed. It may be easier to clean some parts with a toothbrush.

Leather strap

Leather cannot withstand water, so don’t let it soak or hold it under the tap. You can lightly wet a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth if necessary. Just make sure that the moisture does not end up in one place.
