According to sources, Apple would have plans to market a new Apple Watch SE model this year. You don’t have to expect a lot of innovations, but according to Ross Young, the Apple Watch SE 3rd generation gets a larger screen.
The current generation dates from 2022 and the third generation is about to be released. Not only will the display be renewed, perhaps the SE contains other ‘old’ innovations. We list the rumors for you.
Apple Watch Se 3rd generation
The Apple Watch entry model is in urgent need of innovation. The current generation dates from 2022 and still continues to the first generation. The Apple Watch SE 3 is therefore also expected this fall and contains some ‘old’ innovations. The SE model is a composition of old generations of Apple Watch models to save costs and that will also be reflected in the 3rd generation.

According to display analyst Ross Young the third generation Apple Watch gets a SE screen. According to his information, the screens have a size of around 40.6 mm and 45.7 mm. Because Apple completes the sizes and we can expect a 41 mm and 45 mm cabinet.
These are exactly the formats that Apple used from the Apple Watch Series 7 to Series 10. It is therefore likely that these screens will be incorporated into the SE model. At the moment the SE has a screen size of 40 mm and 44 mm.
Plastic housing?
Mark Gurman van Bloomberg says That Apple is currently working on a new version of the Apple Watch SE. According to him, Apple would be testing to adjust the housing for this model. Instead of aluminum, Apple wants to try to provide the Apple Watch SE with a plastic housing. This would mainly like to do the company to further reduce the price.
This is not new, Apple has tried this once before with the iPhone 5C. This was also provided with a plastic housing in all kinds of bright colors. The iPhone didn’t really catch on, but perhaps plastic is a better choice for the Apple Watch SE.
Other innovations
What extra innovations Apple will add to the SE 3rd generation is still unknown. It is likely that the SE will receive new health functions. Possibly a saturation meter to measure the oxygen in the blood. An always-on-screen may only be reserved for the more expensive models.
Availability
The Apple Watch SE 3rd generation is expected in the autumn of 2025. The suggested retail price will probably be more or less the same with a starting price of € 249 for the 41 mm model and € 279 for the 45 mm version.
