I have exchanged Apple Watch Series 8 previously available by Apple a while back for the Apple Watch Series 10 (GPS + Cellular) with the 42 mm cabinet of aluminum. For that I used an Apple Watch Series 7. I mainly use the Watch to maintain my condition with the 3 rings Move,, ” Train and To stand Where I chose the average values. I also regularly view the other health -related measurements. In addition, I freed my environment from the beeps of, for example, WhatsApp. Those have now become vibrations on my wrist. The Watch is also useful when pin, navigation, playing music and telephone because you have to get your iPhone out of your pocket much less often.

Watch 10 and Health
For me personally, the greatest added value of the Watch is that it helps you to live healthy (there). In addition, due to the fall and crash detection and the possibility to send an SOS message to emergency services and/or family, there is clear added value. And not only for, for example, single people but also for someone who walks or cycles with few people in the dark or through areas.
In addition to exercise, there are also other health -related measurements such as saturation (measuring the oxygen content in the blood) and heart rate. You can also make an ECG (Halt movie).
In terms of movement, there are the 3 rings that help to move sufficiently. To stimulate movement, medals can be earned.
The ‘rings’
The setting of the Ring To stand is set for me at 12 hours or every day every clock hour stands for at least a minute (the move). Series 10 is better able to register only than the predecessors. It sometimes happened that an hour -standing work behind a laptop was not registered because there was insufficient walking.

Ring Train Is the moderately intensive exercise expressed in minutes; Set to me at 30 minutes. If you do not indicate that you are actively involved in cycling or walking, then less accurately measures. That is no different with series 10; Probably to save electricity. For example, walking back and forth for 4 minutes at the station was not measured when training 1 minute.
Ring Move is expressed in an estimated energy consumption in kilocalories; Set to me at 510. Of the 3 rings, this is, at least for me, the hardest to fill.
It is my aim to get all 3 rings full every day. I do that for health reasons. Sufficient exercise together with healthy food is important to live for a healthy life. If necessary, I still cycle around the ring in the evening Move to get full. Naturally, in addition to lifestyle, construction and living conditions play an important role in growing old.

Sleeping phases and alarm clock
With the Watch you can measure the different sleep phases and therefore the quality of sleep for some time. That still happens within the set sleep schedule. Beyond that is not measured, which in itself is a pity because a spontaneous sleep on the couch is missed in no time. You see the sleeping phases, just like all other health -related measurements in the Health app. New is that sleep apnea can now also be signaled.
If you change the alarm on the iPhone at night, while the sleep function is already on, then that change sometimes does not want to be implemented. So the set alarm clock does not go off and you get notifications in the middle of the night. Something to take into account. I therefore use the Sleep Cycle app, as a spare ward. I used to use this app to measure the quality of sleep.
Sleeping apnea
Sleep apnea is a condition in which during sleep the breathing temporarily fails or briefly stops. It reduces sleep quality that makes people feel tired faster during the day, less concentrated with often headache. Sleep apnea is certainly not always noticed immediately in the initial phase. Signaling this is a nice expansion of health measurements. This function is also available for the Apple Watch Series 9 after updating Watchos.

Other health measurements
In terms of health measurements, the Watch has unfortunately evolved less in recent years than hoped. Samsung has been able to measure blood pressure for some time and there have been rumors for years that the Apple Watch will measure the glucose (sugar). But even with Sesies 10 that is not yet the case.
Both are important indicators that help with a healthy life. Blood pressure is called a silent killer because high blood pressure is often not noticed. The blood pressure monitor will probably be implemented in 2025. Although the skin temperature is measured, it is not possible to measure whether you have a fever. Perhaps that is possible in the future with the AirPods. In terms of health, it has also recently been possible to make an Audiogram with the AirPods Pro 2 and to use the AirPods as a hearing aid and to set up that speech and music is adapted for an optimal hearing.
SOS function
The Watch has fall detection and crash detection for motorists. In the event of a car accident or detection of a fall, you get the question whether 112 should be called and/or the specified contact persons should be warned. If you do not respond in time, the SOS message will be automatically sent with your location. It doesn’t work completely accurately. If I stumble on the stairs, it is often not measured as a fall. On the other hand, with sudden movements, false alarm is sometimes sounded. If you do not notice that in time, the emergency services can be warned unnecessarily. You can also manually activate the SOS function in an emergency.

Pay with the watch
Another handy position is to pay with the Watch. You can add your payment cards from the supporting banks via your banking app to the Wallet Watch app. Super handy because you no longer have to use your phone when paying with Apple Pay. Because when you put on your watch, for example after charging, you have to give up a code, you do not have to enter no extra code when paying, even with larger amounts. By clicking double the button under the crown you get direct access to the payment cards (and other cards).
Navigation
You can also use the Watch as a tool for navigation with the map app on the iPhone. Part of the iPhone screen is then displayed on the watch screen so that you do not have to look on your phone constantly. Handy, but still I had to fall back on the larger iPhone screen from time to time because it simply contains more information. It is best to first start the navigation and then a measurement Walk or Misuse Activate. Conversely, the navigation is given priority and it is sometimes how you can go back to the navigation indication while walking or cycling after a stopover.
Design and battery
The Apple Watch Series 10 has received a different design. Flatter, noticeably lighter, slightly rounder and thanks to the OLED screen a clear image with an even larger viewing angle. The Apple Watch Series 10 would also charge up to 80% faster and the battery would last longer. The total charging process, however, still lasted about an hour with my model. The useful life was not much longer at 24 hours compared to the Watch 8 of 1.5 years old.
Wearing comfort
One of the supplied straps was a somewhat stretchable stretcher of carbon fibers with Velcro. The Watch feels so pleasant and comfortable. In terms of weight, you hardly notice that you have a watch on. The viewing angle was already good and has now become a little better.
Other experiences
The differences with the Watch Series 8 is relatively small in my view. The lower weight is clearly noticeable, especially in combination with the Velcro band. The viewing angle is bigger but that is not something that I encountered in the previous models. The OLED display indeed seems a bit brighter. The watch could work on a battery charge for longer and loading would go faster. For me these differences are small. The Watch must be fully charged for approximately every 24 hours and, when moving too intensively, it is not achieved for 24 hours. Charging takes about an hour. Both (24 hours of use / 1 hour loading) were not crazy with the Watch 8 after 1.5 years of use.
Conclusion
The Apple Watch Series 10 is also a responsible purchase for those who would like to keep an eye on his or her health, build a better condition and whether the sports performance wants to improve. In addition, the crash and fall detection with SOS function is a solution. The series 10 is lighter than its predecessor, has an (even) clearer screen and is able to register sleep apnea. Furthermore, the differences with the predecessor (s) are relatively small. We still have to be patient for a blood pressure measurement and/or glucose meter.
A big advantage of the Apple Watch is the good integration with the iPhone.
If you have an Apple Watch Series 9, there is no reason to buy the Watch 10 unless you fall for the design.
