The new Apple Watch

The Apple Watch Series 7: The step seems so small, but it’s much bigger than you might think. After using Apple’s new smartwatch for over a week, I can finally talk about it. Finally talking about the fact that the way I use the Apple Watch has changed forever.
In this review I’ll explain why the Series 7 doesn’t seem that interesting at first, but how it will eventually change the lives of many consumers.
‘The Apple Watch Series 7 is a minimal upgrade’
‘Here we go again’, I thought during California Streaming. During Apple’s September event, I looked quite bored at the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 7. As with the iPhone 13, I didn’t see too many exciting things during the presentation of the new smartwatch. “The Apple Watch Series 7 is a minimal upgrade” was my first thought.
And forgive me. The new Apple Watch Series 7 features new color options: Starlight, (PRODUCT) RED, Midnight, Blue and Green. The existing bands could still be used, but Apple would also bring new bands on the market. And then the company didn’t even bother to put a new processor in the device.

No, I did not expect that I would be so enthusiastic about the new Apple Watch. Because man, was I wrong then.
A bigger screen with big benefits
The jump between the display of the Apple Watch Series 7 and its predecessor (the Series 6) doesn’t seem that big at first. After all, the new 1.9-inch Retina LTPO OLED display is only 0.12-inch larger than the previous Retina LTPO OLED display. The consumer is faced with less thick screen edges (1.7 mm), has 20% more screen and can enjoy clearer dials. The advantages are particularly apparent with Contour, Modular Duo, Portrait and World Clock. But if you look further, you will notice the magic.
The larger screen of the Apple Watch Series 7 ensures that consumers are more attracted to regular use of the smartwatch. That has to do with the improved UI that makes the most of that larger screen. In applications such as stopwatch or calculator, the buttons have been made larger, so that they are easier to use than with the previous model. It’s easier to type in your password and you can read up to 50% more text. It’s all just a bit more user-friendly.
Just like the fact that you can now actually answer apps and emails on your Apple Watch Series 7. That has everything to do with the keyboard that, despite the negativity around it, increases the ease of use. You won’t write whole chunks of text with it, but a short answer is given in no time. And that is a world of difference with the previous model. Certainly, because you now actually have the space to give that answer.

Faster charging changes everything
The ease of use of your Apple Watch Series 7 is therefore also slightly larger due to the slightly larger screen. Although it is mainly charging the battery that ensures that you actually use the Apple Watch more often.
Last year, consumers who wanted to use the new sleep meter ran into a problem. Suddenly a choice had to be made at what time of day the Apple Watch would be used. That will come to an end with the Apple Watch Series 7, as I have barely taken off my smartwatch in the past week.
This has everything to do with the fact that the product has enough charge within eight minutes to measure your entire night and is charged enough within 45 minutes (80%) to last all day. Every morning, when I get ready for the day and enjoy my breakfast, the Series 7 is on the charger. Every evening, half an hour before I go to sleep and still play the entire internet in bed, the Series 7 is on the charger. Enough to ensure that the smartwatch can be used at any other time, day or night.
It is, along with the user-friendliness created by the display, a world of difference to the Series 6.

Apple Watch Series 7: a wolf in sheep’s clothing
The Apple Watch Series 7 is therefore really a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It seems like a very small step on paper, but it changes the way you use the smartwatch forever. In fact, if you’re someone who’s looking for that, I’d recommend exchanging your Apple Watch Series 6 for the new model.
Are you someone who doesn’t feel the need to measure his or her sleep or doesn’t need more interaction with his or her smartwatch? Then it is fine to wait a little longer before you take the step. But believe me when I say that the advantages the Series 7 has given me really surprise me.
