Apple will change your iPhone forever – these are its plans for the future

Apple has all kinds of future plans for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch models. This is what you can expect in the short term.

Apple’s future plans for existing products

Apple is always working on new products, but also on innovations for the current range of devices such as the iPhone. In his most recent newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman laid out Apple’s future plans for existing devices. This is what you can expect.

Gurman’s last Power On newsletter focuses largely on future Apple products, such as new home products and smart glasses. He also discusses Apple’s future plans for the most important products currently available.

You can expect these improvements

According to Gurman, Apple’s near-term future plans focus on gradual improvements to existing products. Think of Macs with faster chips, thinner designs and touch screens. iPads are becoming more versatile, with larger and foldable screens. Apple Watches get a blood pressure monitor and glucose monitoring. And Apple will try to make iPhones even more indispensable, with new designs, cameras and AI features.

Gurman has shared many of Apple’s future plans before. The fact that he’s repeating them now gives a good idea of the short-term improvements for a number of popular Apple products. We don’t yet know exactly which models or release dates are in store, but we at least have an idea of what to expect in the near future.

In summary, this is what we can expect from Apple in the short term:

  • iPhone: new designs (like the iPhone 17 Air), plus cameras and AI features.
  • iPad: larger and foldable screens.
  • Mac: touchscreens, thinner design, faster processors.
  • Apple Watch: new health sensors for blood pressure and glucose.

It seems that Apple has the most radical future plans in store for the Mac and the iPad. Adding a touchscreen to the Mac will be a significant change, as will larger, foldable iPads. With regard to the iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple is mainly continuing on the path it has taken.
