It seems increasingly likely that a new iPhone SE will appear in 2022. According to a reliable analyst, Apple is working on the next generation of the SE, which will be called the iPhone SE Plus.
iPhone SE Plus 2022 is coming
Apple last launched an iPhone SE in the spring of 2020, and there will probably be a successor in six months. Analyst Ross Young reports that the new iPhone SE 2022 has the same 4.7-inch LCD screen as the current version.
This is in line with previous rumors about the SE, which also predicted that Apple would stick to the current home button design. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, among others, reported this. He previously predicted a release of the SE in 2021, but it did not materialize.
Interestingly, Young expects the iPhone SE to be labeled ‘Plus’, despite it being no bigger than its predecessor. ‘Plus’ may stand for the faster 5G connectivity, which the SE 2022 will get, according to Young.
Previously, Apple used ‘Plus’ with devices with a larger screen (such as the iPhone 8 Plus), but nowadays Apple uses the label ‘Max’ for this, such as with the latest iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Not a bigger screen
Last week there was a rumor that the next iPhone SE will resemble the iPhone XR from 2018. It has a 6.1-inch screen, without a home button. “We’ve heard that the iPhone SE 3 with a 5.7 or 6.1-inch display has been pushed back to 2024,” Young said. A larger iPhone SE therefore seems to be in the works, but the launch will come at a later time.

Ross Young has recently proven to be knowledgeable when it comes to new Apple products. For example, he was the first to report a 2021 MacBook Pro with ProMotion screen. He was also right with his predictions about the iPhone 13 (Pro) and iPad mini 2021.
The new iPhone SE will probably be launched in 2022, so you have to be patient. Don’t feel like waiting? The iPhone 13 mini is even smaller, and a lot more advanced (but also more expensive) than the SE. Below you will find the best deals:
